Jake A. Lepper was appointed to the Fitchburg Common Council in November 2025 and has lived in Fitchburg since 2023. He brings a broad background in public service shaped by leadership roles in law enforcement, emergency medical services, police mental health response, and statewide training and policy development. Jake currently serves on the EMS Commission, the Community & Economic Development Authority, and the Personnel Committee, applying his experience in policy analysis and organizational leadership. He has worked in policing for almost a decade, currently as a patrol sergeant, leading police officers and responding to calls. Over his career, he has served in various roles, including Evidence Technician, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer, and LGBTQ+ Liaison Officer. His work focuses on human-centered service to maintain safe, healthy communities.
Jake is certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board and has written curriculum for numerous entities, delivering training statewide. Recognized as a New Blue Fellow, his work aims to improve equity and professional standards. He is pursuing a Doctor of Law and Policy at Northeastern University, focusing on transgender and gender-diverse people's experiences with policing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University. In addition to his law enforcement career, Jake is a veteran of the Wisconsin Army National Guard and has served on nonprofit boards, including NAMI and Bella Soul. He lives in Fitchburg with his husband, Michael, their daughter, and their two dogs, Francis and Benedict. He enjoys baking, reading, playing piano, and exploring Fitchburg’s parks and trails with his family.
