Joe Maldonado, currently in his third term as a member of the Fitchburg City Council has been a dedicated public servant for five years, having taken office in 2020. With 16 years of residency in Fitchburg and 23 years in Dane County, Joe has deep roots in the community. Professionally, he serves as the Bilingual Youth and Families State Specialist at UW-Madison's Division of Extension, highlighting his commitment to fostering growth and inclusivity. Beyond his professional role, Joe is actively engaged in volunteer work, serving as a former Trustee for Madison College (2023-2024), a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, contributing to the Verona Area School District Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Committee, and engaging in public speaking endeavors.
Family-oriented with two children, Joe values education, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Afro American Studies, and a Master of Arts in Afro American Studies from UW-Madison. Joe also holds a Certificate in Sustainability Leadership from Edgewood College. He finds solace and joy in Fitchburg's natural beauty, particularly its proximity to major bike trails, the UW-Arboretum, and numerous parks. In his leisure time, Joe enjoys a diverse array of hobbies including cycling, gardening, cooking, dancing, and exploring podcasts. His commitment to community development is further demonstrated through his involvement with the Bicycle Committee, Personnel Committee, and the Community and Economic Development Authority, each reflecting his dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Fitchburg.
