Plan Commission Application Scam
We are aware of a scam consisting of fraudulent emails and invoices that appear to be official correspondence from our department. These fraudulent solicitations direct applicants to promptly pay an invoice via wire transfer. These scams are extremely sophisticated, appear professional, use our official logo, and may even use the names of the City of Fitchburg staff in an attempt to appear legitimate.
These emails were not sent by the City of Fitchburg, and the Planning and Zoning Department would never send emails requesting wire transfers. Please do not respond to these notices, and exercise caution with any unsolicited emails you receive. All emails regarding Plan Commission applications will end with @fitchburgwi.gov or @opengov.com.
Anyone who receives a suspicious email or invoice should avoid mailing payments and call the City of Fitchburg Planning and Zoning Department at 608-270-4200.
