Fitchburg Sustainability Plan
Fitchburg's Sustainability Plan Approved
The Fitchburg Sustainability Plan was approved at the April 8, 2025 Common Council meeting by unanimous voice vote. With that vote, the City's first comprehensive, focused effort to improve sustainability and tackle the ongoing threat of climate change is officially a guiding document for Fitchburg.
Thanks to everybody who participated in the process in ways both small and large! This Plan was led by the City and its implementation will be overseen by City staff, but it couldn't have been completed to this same level of success without such robust public participation and the whole team is grateful for that. As always, you can also reach out to the City's Sustainability Specialist (phil.grupe@fitchburgwi.gov) if you have questions or would like to offer input.
See the baseline documents and infographics from the Summer of 2023 below, as well as presentations and other information about the Plan. Click the Plan thumbnail below to see the full, final version of the Sustainability Plan, and look for more information to appear in the coming months.

Thanks for completing the survey!
An online Sustainability Survey was available for 8 months, collecting input from residents and businesses in the Fitchburg community. This survey helped to identify the current state of perceptions, needs, opportunities, priorities, and issues the Fitchburg community identified for addressing in the Sustainability Plan.
