Licensing and Payment Options

Licenses are now online through OpenGov! Simply click here to create or log in to your account.

Moving forward, once you create an account with OpenGov, you can apply for almost any license through the City each year.

City of Fitchburg Ordinaces require Vending on Public Streets & Parks to be licensed. There are two licensing options for Street Vendor Permits: an annual licensing period and a monthly licensing period. All licenses expire April 14th of the following year. If selling in the parking lot of a Business with owner consent, License is NOT required.

The following requirements are to be submitted along with your online application. 

  • License Fee $300 annual or $50 per month (due at time of submission)
  • Site map including one specific location of sales (unless ice cream or foot vendor). If additional sites are needed, must fill out separate application with fees.
  • Copy of Certificate of Insurance listing City of Fitchburg
  • Copy of Wisconsin Sellers Permit
  • Copy of Dane County Health Permit (if selling food) 

Note: Street Vending shall be prohibited between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on any street or sidewalk located within any residentially zoned district.

Once your application has been submitted and all requirements are met and reviewed by city staff a license will be issued to you automatically via OpenGov.
