Composition
The governing body of the Community Equity Advisory Committee shall consist of seven members: one alderperson and six residents of the city. To the extent possible, members shall have expertise or a strong commitment to social justice, public policy, equity, advocacy, and community engagement. A majority of members shall constitute a quorum.
Summary of Duties
The Community Equity Advisory Committee shall advise the Common Council on inclusive practices using an equity lens. The committee may review and provide feedback on the City's strategic plan and other plans, including communication, comprehensive, housing, park and open space, recreation, bike, and pedestrian plans. At the request of the Mayor or Council, the committee may also review city policies and programs to ensure they promote equity and meet the diverse needs of the community, recommend strategies to improve outreach and engagement with historically underrepresented or underserved groups, and suggest tools, frameworks, or best practices to advance equity and inclusion.
